The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that all volunteers of the Iowa Temple uphold the values, integrity, and peaceful environment of the Temple. By volunteering, you agree to support our mission of service, compassion, respect, and devotion.
I, , wish to offer my seva to the Devatas of IOWA and to the devotee community with sincerity of heart. I acknowledge that my primary duty is to uphold a positive, respectful, and professional presence and to assist devotees, visitors, staff, and fellow volunteers with care at all times—whether in person, over the phone, or through electronic communication. I understand that I will be held to each of the following:

Mutual Respect, Integrity, and Harmonious Conduct
- ● As a volunteer, I will engage with devotees, fellow volunteers, staff, and priests with honesty, respect, and kindness.
- ● I will embody the “CARE” values in all interactions:C (Courteous), A (Attentive), R (Respectful), E (Empathetic).
- ● I recognize that anger, disrespectful speech, or aggressive behavior disrupts the temple’s spiritual atmosphere and will not be accepted by the Temple Leadership or Board.

Use of Respectful Language
- ● I will choose words that uplift, guide, and unify, especially during times of stress or disagreement.
- ● I will uphold the “CARE” principle in all communications, ensuring that I remain considerate, composed, and mindful.
- ● I understand that harmful language—including threats, insults, or public criticism—has no place in a place of worship.

Reporting Protocols
- ● Differences of opinion will be handled calmly and respectfully, beginning with direct and cordial conversations.
- ● If resolution cannot be reached, I will follow the proper escalation path by notifying the General Manager or the Vice Chair of Operations.
- ● If I violate the code of conduct, I understand that I will receive a written warning from the Vice Chair of Operations.
- ● A second violation will result in the matter being forwarded to the Ombudsperson by the Chairperson for review.
I affirm that I have read, understood, and agree to abide by the IOWA Volunteer Code of Conduct. I accept responsibility for my actions and their impact on the temple community.
